Mr Ong Eng Teck is Director, System of Systems Synergies & Optimisation at the Science & Technology Policy and Plans Office, Prime Minister’s Office, where he identifies synergies and optimises solutions across the infrastructure, energy, transport, and sustainability sectors to address national challenges.
From April 2024 to March 2025, he was Director (Capability Development), Air Systems at DSTA, co-chairing the RSAF Technical Airworthiness Review Board and creating a direct contracting framework to accelerate engagement with innovative companies.
As Director of the Defence Technology Office (USA) at the Singapore Embassy (July 2020–December 2023), he expanded MINDEF’s collaborations with the US, established a new Science & Technology bilateral forum, and led negotiations culminating in the signing of the Security of Supply Agreement.
Previously, Mr Ong led a new programme office in DSTA(September 2014–April 2020), building and leading a team to deliver advanced capabilities for Singapore. Earlier, he managed R&T projects at DSTA and MINDEF (October 2007–March 2014), contributing to future concepts and R&T technology roadmaps.
An active volunteer, he serves as a Council Member of the Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES) and the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS). He was IES Honorary Secretary (2019), Chairman of the Young Engineers Committee (2017–2018), and Chairman of the Young Engineers of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (2018), where he amended the YEAFEO constitution to expand membership.
A DSTA scholar, Mr Ong graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering and received his MEng in Electrical Engineering, completing both in 3.5 years. He attended the NUS Business School General Management Programme in 2014.
He is an active national service officer in the SAF, promoted to Major in July 2019, and is married with one son.
